Loose Woman
With a multiplicity of moods, Loose Woman offers intoxicating poems of extraordinary insight and imagining. What makes this a particularly special audio is hearing the poems recited in the author's own voice.
Woman Hollering Creek and other stories
The women in these stories offer tales of pure discovery, filled with moments of infinite and intimate wisdom. Woman Hollering Creek and other stories confirms Sandra Cisneros's stature as a writer of electrifying talent and Cisneros, in lending her voice to this production, offers another entire dimension to the stories.
The House on Mango Street
The House on Mango Street tells the story of Esperanza Cordero, a young girl coming into her power, and inventing for herself what she will become. Listen as Sandra Cisneros brings to life her greatly admired and most widely renowned book.

Cisneros's irresistible text is rich in images and bright language. Her details are unique and personal, making the reader feel as if the words were his own, the experiences recent. As a performer, Cisneros is just as involved, and with mixed results. In THE HOUSE ON MANGO STREET, for example, she takes the child narrator's voice very seriously, giving the listener the impression of being spoken down to, rather than being entertained. The enthusiasm intended to be childlike and endearing is perhaps too much so. The vocal style in the performances of poetry in LOOSE WOMAN is more accessible and graceful. Overall, the collection is cohesive and worth a listen. L.B.F. (c) AudioFile 2006, Portland, Maine
