Joe Stoshack is no ordinary Little Leaguer. When he handles a baseball card, he gets a tingly feeling all over, and before he knows it, he has traveled to the year the baseball card was issued. In this sequel to HONUS AND ME, "Stosh" travels to 1947 to meet Major League's first black player, Jackie Robinson, in order to complete an African-American history report for school. This is a beautiful series filled with valuable historic insights, which actor Johnny Heller imbues with youthful energy and awe. Heller knows his limits and doesn't try to put on thick African-American accents, but he does manage to give many of the book's Brooklyn characters a believable regional tone. The series and this book are entertaining, enchanting, and highly recommended. S.E.S. (c) AudioFile 2005, Portland, Maine
